How is the 50Fit Program different to any other weight-loss program?
There’s a lot more we know about how to lose weight safely and sustainably than we knew even 10 years ago. The fact is, we’ve known how to lose weight without restricting calories or harsh exercise programs for over 100 years! The problem is no one wants to lose weight gradually. These days it’s a race. People are more interested in losing 10 kilos for their wedding, or a school reunion etc. It’s true, losing weight is 80% nutrition and 20% activity. In my program I teach you step-by-step how to move away from the foods which cause weight gain to swap in the foods which don’t – without hunger and without lack. My program is not about points or rewards or cheat days – I simply RE-EDUCATE you why we gain weight – and believe me, it’s not what you think. When you understand the WHY behind weight gain, I then show you HOW to begin and sustain the weight-loss process. You see, gaining weight is not just about calories in vs calories out – sure this is important but its not the DRIVING cause. The type of foods you eat (protein, fats, carbohydrates) have a profound effect on the body and how we store fat. Once you understand how food effects whether fat is stored or un-stored in our body, I guarantee you’ll be saying “Now I get it……”. Once you know the true ‘why’ of weight gain, the how is so much easier.
I don’t want to be on a special diet.
Neither do I! Getting healthy and eating well has got nothing to do with ‘special’ food this and ‘secret’ ingredient that. The backbone of 50FIt Program is making the realisation just how much weight-gaining carbohydrate we all eat. I will show you – backed by the study of endocrinology – how carbohydrate is metabolised in the body to cause weight-gain. I will make the case that foods which we all grew up on – breakfast cereals, bread, rice, pasta, baking products, muffins, noodles, potatoes, sweets, biscuits and fruit juice – is the main cause of our gradual weight gain simply by how the body converts these calories to body fat. The great shame is that our health authorities – by way of the Australian Dietary Guidelines – promotes the intake of these foods as ‘part of a balanced diet’. And it’s this diet which has caused 60% obesity within the Australian population – and rising! Oh, and my program won’t have you drinking shakes for lunch and dinner or preparing separate lettuce-leaves-for-a-week meals. The 50Fit program celebrates food as a sustainable, core element in keeping us healthy for the rest of our days.
Why would I listen to you – what makes you any different from other internet fitness 'gurus'?
I’m different because I’m the same…the same as you. I’m middle-aged, have a family and go to work. I haven’t found the ‘secret’ formula for exercise other than toughing it out; I haven’t discovered the ‘breakthrough’ diet other than eating low-carb, real food; and I don’t look to others for motivation, I only look within. But what I do know on my march beyond 50, is that things have changed. I am invincible or indeed immortal no longer. And while my health decline is inevitable – I have a choice. I can get on with living or I can get on with dying. I can invite disease into my life or I can delay it. I choose to do what I can to put more days in my life and life in my days. I choose to prevent the preventable. This means exercising and eating well most days and to be grateful for what I have, not for what I want. I want to show you how to prevent the preventable – to get you off the sideline and back in the game. To be your healthiest at 50. Oh and for the record I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education from the Queensland University of Technology and a Master’s Degree in Sports Management from the Southern Cross University, NSW and I’m a qualified Health Coach from the Primal Health Institute. I taught senior school physical education for 10 years but now teach corporate health and wellness.
I know it’s important, but I just don’t have the time to prepare meals or exercise.
I get it. We are over-committed, over-stretched and down-right over the edge when it comes to the day-to-day of our hyper-connected world. I feel most of my days are spent either at work or uber driving my kids around the neighbourhood during the weekend. There’s early drop-off to school, music practice, after-school sports, dentist, haircuts, weekend sport blah, blah, blah. But here’s the thing. We will never have enough time. Time is time. It’s 1,440 minutes in 24 hours. And yet I’ve had single mums with four kids who’ve done my program and lost 10kg. I’ve had shift workers and ‘tradies’ – people working long hours – lose 15kg. I’ve also had busy executives running major companies lose 20kg. You see, time is relative to the importance we place on it. It’s not about time, it’s about priority. And once we make our health a priority it’s amazing where we find time in the nooks and crannies of our lives. I guarantee, when you change your habits towards a mind-set of personal improvement your energy will sky-rocket! Give it a try…Oh, here’s a photo of Trevor a Bank Exec. He lost 20kgs…
I can't cook.
Neither can I! But here’s the thing, it’s like anything, once we get some wins under our belt, we get better with confidence. Besides, my program is not about preparing gourmet banquet meals for you or your family – it’s about simple nosh which is easy to prepare and cook. That’s why I’ve made it super easy for you with my Carb-Clever eCookbook (included in the course) which shows you the exact recipes I use, day-in and day-out to feed me and my family. Wholesome, home-cooked meals which helped me lose 8kg – simply by flicking foods which I now no longer crave or find tasty – which were once staples for me. These meals – including dead-easy ideas for breakfast, lunch and dinner – will get you back to eating simply and nutritiously – exactly what’s needed to start moving the dial on your weight-loss journey.
I haven’t exercised in years so I won’t know what to do.
I know that getting back into fitness can be a daunting process, especially when we’re a little older. That’s why the 50Fit workouts come complete with step by step video instruction on how to properly execute each workout and exercise. This instruction is backed by my physical education background and by utilizing these exercises in thousands of workouts in my 35 year of consistent exercise. Further, these joint-friendly exercises are tried and true and have stood the test of time. Done correctly, they work to develop muscle and body strength at any age! Chances are you’ve grown up with them too. The program also includes a comprehensive training guide which explains the theory behind the 50Fit workouts and how to perform them. I’ve even included a workout diary so you can keep track of what workout to do on what days. Simple. Here’s what’s included:
It’s hard to find the motivation to exercise and eat well.
Let’s face it we’re all human and most of us struggle to devote the time it takes to stay on track with our health. We start a program ‘full of beans’ only to find after a few weeks our interest and effort begin to wane. In my experience the main reason we begin a ‘health-kick’ and don’t follow-through is because we don’t anchor a big enough ‘why’ to our goals. In the 50Fit program I give you the framework to find your ‘why map’ – a process by which to develop the key drivers to motivate YOURSELF. The first goal of the 50Fit Program is ‘Setting up for Success’ where we discuss the strategies and techniques to ensure your reasons to improve your health stay on true north. Sure we can gain inspiration from other fit and healthy people in magazines or on the internet, but learning how to ‘fire-up’ yourself is the secret to lasting motivation to keep you doing the work each and every day.
But I hate going to the gym.
Can I share a secret? So do I. Gyms can be intimidating places – especially with all those fit bodies and thumping music! It’s easy to think you’ve got to be at a certain ‘level’ of fitness before you can even show up to a gym, but not so. Gyms can be motivating places but for some they are about as comfortable as walking into the ladies underwear section of your department store, even with your wife! That’s why I designed the 50Fit program to be done at home as well as the gym – whatever your preference. Of course with the 50Fit Program you don’t have any expensive ongoing gym fees or locked-in contracts, not to mention saving on travel time. Exercising on your own terms in your familiar environment is always a better option, especially when you’re starting out on your fitness journey. The 50Fit workouts use simple but effective body-weight exercises to achieve better results than complicated gym machines anyway. In case you need a ‘training partner’ my videos downloaded on your mobile device ensures you are only a swipe away from ‘me’ in your workout space. I even include a video explaining what simple equipment is needed. Easy.
I don’t want to pay for the 50Fit program and realise it’s not for me.
That’s why you can take a look at a free tutorial so that you are comfortable with the way the course ‘looks and feels’. If you realise the program is not for you, fine – you’ve lost nothing. If indeed you do decide that getting back to healthy is not only a priority but also within reach, you can go ahead and buy the complete program. The 50Fit Program is self-paced and contains over 36 x text tutorials, 23 x videos, 14 x instructional PDF’s and 10 x audio-based content lessons. It is, quite literally, everything I know about eating well, moving with purpose while maintaining effort-less weight management for the rest of your life.
