On the 6th of September 2050 I’m going to die.
Exactly 95 years from beginning to end.
I reckon that’s a good innings.
I’m calling it my drop dead date.
If I achieve this I’d have lived 2 years more then my aunt.
32 years more than my father.
And 44 years older than my mother.
It also means that I have 30 years left on this Earth.
Roughly 10,000 days.
It seems a lot…but only 5,475 days ago my son was born.
Now he borrows my car keys.
So to get there what’s my 30 year plan?
Simple.
To be:
1. Lean
2. Muscle strong
3. Heart strong
I’m being lean by eating a low carb diet.
I eat meat, fish, chicken, eggs, dairy, veggies, seeds, nuts and some fruit.
I avoid wheat and sugar and alcohol is not a big part of my life.
I keep muscle strong by 2 x 20 minute resistance training sessions a week.
I do push-ups, squats, pull-ups and planks.
No fancy equipment.
I keep heart strong via a stationary bike for 20 min once a week while breathing in the world twice as fast.
Three days a week I start the day with a 40 minute walk mainly to clear my head, get some sun and appreciate the world around me.
These strategies are not hard to implement.
My exercise is 180 minutes a week or 3.5% of my waking hours.
That’s not a burden.
Real burden is being on dialysis or injecting insulin 4 times a day.

So what’s your plan?
So in middle age the question you must ask yourself is:
What’s your drop dead date?
What’s your plan?
When you think about it, we all have a terminal disease.
We are all going to die.
But knowing when to act, to get healthy, will be the difference between a long life or a long death.
Because in middle age your future, more then anything, should come first.
So get cracking, only 9,999 days to go….
